About the Role

John Holland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner to join our dynamic team. As a pivotal member of the project management team, the Senior Planner will be responsible for establishing and managing the planning process for one of our prestigious health projects. The successful candidate will oversee the creation of detailed programs and monitor performance to ensure the delivery of top-quality projects, both on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ­Implement planning strategies and audits / reviews for projects. 

  • ­Ensure project planning activities are conducted in accordance with JH policies and procedures. 

  • ­Ensure monitoring and reporting of Project Controls processes are successfully set-up and implemented on projects.

  • ­Highlight any issues that may impact the effective, efficient and professional planning resources and support to the project including implementing standard processes and reports.

  • ­Interface with project team, partners, clients, stakeholders, consultants, designers, vendors, subcontractors for management of the planning function in accordance with established procedures

  • ­Proactively lead a planning and controls culture across the project based on best practice and with a focus on risk management, cost control and SQE.

  • ­Early identification and communication of issues and opportunities to the Projects team.

  • ­Identify the need for training and provide guidance to subordinates and colleagues in the use of planning and programming systems, project monitoring & controls and the interpretation of data and information generated

  • Supervise staff undertaking planning & controls activities, exercising functional control over all onsite staff with planning / scheduling responsibilities, including performance through subcontractors

  • ­Compile and collate reference and benchmarking data future planning purposes in accordance with the John Holland Basis of Schedule

  • ­Implement project monitoring systems, particularly focussing on time, cost, resources & quality (project controls & earned value).  

  • Ensure that planning & controls reports generated across project(s) provide maximum cost and time forecasting certainty for project(s).  

  • ­Advise Project Managers in report interpretation, analysis of project performance, forward planning and development of corrective actions to maximise project delivery outcomes

  • ­Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures

Key Requirements:

  • ­Tertiary degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines - Engineering, Construction, Building, Sciences, Architecture or Project Management, or equivalent experience

  • 8 years experience in construction, Engineering, Planning and Project Controls.

  • ­Demonstrated application of the principles of planning

  • Use of planning software & tools such as Primavera Project Planning, Program Quality Tools (such as Accumen Fuse), Program Forensic Analysis, Earned Value and Cash Flow Analysis

  • ­Experience in the planning process and the use of risk management on tenders and projects.

  • ­Experience in implementing a planning process, and a system of audits and reviews.

  • ­Ability to contribute to the development and revising strategic direction for projects

  • ­Ability to use software such as 4D Modelling, BIM & other digital engineering packages, Schedule Risk Analysis
