About the Role

John Holland is looking for Verifications Officers to join our North East Link - Hoddle to Burke project.

The primary objective of this position is to independently verify that construction activities comply with approved design, standards, specifications, and ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans).

Eastern Hoddle Bourke Alliance (EHBA), comprising John Holland, Seymour Whyte, Mott MacDonald and Jacobs, in partnership with MRPV, is delivering a major upgrade of Melbourne's Eastern Freeway as part of the North East Link Project. The project includes:

  • 6km of freeway widening with additional lanes in both directions
  • 3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
  • Major bridge and structural works, including a new Yarra River bridge
  • Installation of retaining walls, drainage, noise walls, ITS, lighting and signage

Role responsibilities

  • Conduct routine site surveillance and formal verification inspections at Hold/Witness Points in accordance with ITPs.
  • Verify works against approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and applicable standards (VicRoads, Austroads, etc.).
  • Confirm materials and workmanship meet project requirements prior to release to subsequent construction stages.
  • Maintain accurate surveillance logs, verification checklists, photos, and supporting quality records.
  • Identify, report, and escalate early signs of non-conformance, quality issues, unsafe acts, or deviations from approved methods.
  • Assist with the identification, tracking, and close-out of NCRs in collaboration with Quality Coordinators and Engineers.
  • Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and briefings to understand upcoming works and high-risk activities.

About You

  • Experience in quality, verification, surveillance or construction delivery roles is essential
  • Strong understanding of client standards, specifications, and quality management requirements.
  • Proven experience developing, implementing, and reviewing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), construction specifications, and testing requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and construction requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
