About the Project:

The Lake Macdonald Dam is located in the Noosa hinterland and is part of the South East Queensland drinking water supply operated by Seqwater. 

 

John Holland has been awarded the Contract to undertake the largest upgrade to the dam since its installation in 1965 as part of the Seqwater Dam Improvement Project. The project value is $420M. The upgrade will include but not be limited to:

 

  • Pre-construction Approvals, Procurement and Site Establishment 
  • Lake Lowering and Aquatic Salvage 
  • Installation of Upstream Coffer Dam 
  • Cofferdam, Spillway Demolition and Working Platform 
  • Dam Construction 
  • Reinstatement, Rehabilitation and Demobilisation 

About the Opportunity:

As construction of LMDIP (Lake Macdonald Dam Improvement Project) gets under way, John Holland is actively recruiting for an Environmental Undergraduate to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of this iconic Noosa hinterland project based in Nambour, Sunshine Coast.

 

We are looking for motivated and driven environmental student, eager to gain hands-on experience working on one of the Sunshine Coasts most transformative (and environmentally sensitive) projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide Environmental Compliance Support to the team
  • Contribute to Environmental Monitoring and Reporting on the project
  • Participate in Site Inspections and Audits
  • Support Sustainability Initiatives including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation
  • Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to address environmental concerns and provide advice
  • Assist in responding to and investigating environmental incidents and near misses. Plus, help to implement corrective actions and preventative measures
  • Maintain accurate and up to date environmental Documentation and Record-Keeping. Help support the preparation of presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Proactively learn about John Holland’s environmental policies, procedures, systems and participate in training sessions
  • Provide general assistance to the Environmental and Sustainability team on project-related tasks
  • Support the integration of environmental considerations into project planning and delivery
  • Work collaboratively with the wider HSEQ team to ensure environmental aspects are integrated into overall safety and risk management processes

Requirements:

  • A 3rd or 4th year student (Environmental Engineering, Science, Sustainability or other associated disciplines)
  • Available to work at least 2 days a week for the next six months minimum
  • Essential: drive, motivation and an enthusiasm to learn
