About the Project

John Holland Seymour Whyte Joint Venture (JHSWJV) have been successfully awarded the contract for the design and construction of Sydney Gateway Stage 1 and Stage 3.  The project includes 5 kilometres of new road, 16 bridges and close to 3 kilometres of active transport links. 

Benefits of the project include increasing road capacity at Sydney airport, both domestic and international airports.  As well as assisting traffic links to Port Botany and St Peter’s interchange.  JHSWJV will support more than 4,000 jobs over the life of the project.  
 
Stage 1: International Terminal and Qantas Drive connection – a new high-capacity road connection, linking the Sydney Motorway network at St Peter’s interchange with Sydney Airports International Terminal and Qantas Drive.

Stage 3: Domestic Terminal access – an arterial road connection and flyover to Sydney Airport’s Domestic Terminals. This Stage includes improvements to existing roads, to relieve congestion and improve connectivity to Sydney Airport Domestic Terminals and towards Port Botany. 

About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Environment Coordinator to play a key role to advise and implement project environment systems to ensure adherence with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, contractual obligations and the Sydney Gateway environmental management system. Day to day tasks and activities will include but not be limited to;

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Provide environmental guidance, diligence and consistency to internal stakeholders;
  • Provide advice and input into the identification and effective management of environmental risks;
  • Support the development, implementation and ongoing management of project environmental management systems;
  • Communicate environment matters to management and project staff as appropriate; 
  • Support the management of environmental consultants and undertake field monitoring as required;
  • Support the maintenance of comprehensive environmental records;
  • Identify and initiate localised environment improvement initiatives; 
  • Identify and communicate improvements to corporate and project environmental management processes; 
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company environmental requirements;
  • Ensure management is informed of any relevant changes to legal, regulatory and project environmental requirements;
  • Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental matters as required; 
  • Report environmental performance, compliance and defects. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Degree in the Environmental Sciences e.g. Environmental Protection, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management
  • A minimum of 2 years working in a similar role within the Construction industry.
