About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. This new section of rail corridor will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.
What is needed?
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer with demonstrable experience in Structures to work on our newly awarded Illabo to Stockinbingal project (I2S) willing to explore a new opportunity in regional NSW.
This role will be a Monday-Friday Sydney-based role until construction commences in July. The role will then be a 2:1 Roster based on site in Stockinbingal.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project activities and work scope
- Liaise with Client, Subcontractors and all project stakeholders
- Assist Senior PE and act as focal point for technical structural advice, providing the project with best practice methods
- Help ensure project is delivered to programme, budget and the highest safety standards
- Management of plant, labour and materials
- Monitor monthly forecasts
- Provide innovative problem solving and technical expertise
- Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures
Skills & Experience required
- Tertiary qualifications Construction / Engineering Discipline
- Demonstrated skills in programming, cost control, quality assurance, safety and supervision/people management
- Previous work in a Rail environment and technical knowledge of track works
- Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
- The ability to work quickly, effectively and positively in a demanding environment
- Well-developed organisational skills and able to pay attention to detail
- The ability to work to deadlines and targets and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure
About you:
- Experience on complex Rail/Infrastructure projects
- Willing to DIDO
- Or, willing to relocate yourself within an hour’s commute of Cootamundra/Stockinbingal.
- Be open to working a 2:1 roster (2 weeks on / 1 week off)
