About the Project

John Holland Seymour Whyte Joint Venture (JHSWJV) have been successfully awarded the contract for the design and construction of Sydney Gateway Stage 1 and Stage 3.  The project includes 5 kilometres of new road, 16 bridges and close to 3 kilometres of active transport links. 

Benefits of the project include increasing road capacity at Sydney airport, both domestic and international airports.  As well as assisting traffic links to Port Botany and St Peter’s interchange.  JHSWJV will support more than 4,000 jobs over the life of the project.  
Stage 1: International Terminal and Qantas Drive connection – a new high-capacity road connection, linking the Sydney Motorway network at St Peter’s interchange with Sydney Airports International Terminal and Qantas Drive.

Stage 3: Domestic Terminal access – an arterial road connection and flyover to Sydney Airport’s Domestic Terminals. This Stage includes improvements to existing roads, to relieve congestion and improve connectivity to Sydney Airport Domestic Terminals and towards Port Botany. 

About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Rail Interface Manager to play a key role in execution of this iconic Sydney project. Reporting into the Interface Lead, the role of Rail Interface Manager will be accountable for managing and coordinating Rail interface activities with internal and external stakeholders and to provide and coordinate interface solutions to ensure there is no delay to construction program. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development of innovative solutions for the Project and share across the wider project;
  • Develop and maintain harmonious relationships with clients and external parties;
  • Maintain effective relationships across key stakeholder groups;
  • Lead the Interface for all works in the rail corridor and our key stakeholder ARTC;
  • Coordinate and engage with the design and construction team on Rail interface requirements;
  • Develop and maintain processes and systems for effective and efficient coordination between the design and delivery aspects of the Project and to overcome coordination conflicts;
  • Determine critical procurement needs and timings for rail systems works and coordinate such requirements between the design and delivery teams;
  • Input to the constructability of the design process where applicable to ensure interface issues and requirements are considered and factored in;
  • Provide advice to site personnel and relevant stakeholders in resolving interface issues at site level;
  • Support the Design team in the resolution of design comments received from the external stakeholders (the subject of Third-Party Agreements);
  • Ensure that interface issues are understood and incorporated into all planning and programming activities;
  • Ensure consistency across the various Project sites in respect to process, approach, technical standards and systems, as this relates to interfaces with external stakeholders (the subject of Third-Party Agreements);
  • Ensure Risk & Opportunity is continually addressed in Rail interface matters on the project; 

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Trade qualification in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or Business Management 
  • A minimum of 9 years’ experience on large infrastructure projects within the construction industry working within a Rail Engineering or similar position
