About the Project

John Holland Seymour Whyte Joint Venture (JHSWJV) have been successfully awarded the contract for the design and construction of Sydney Gateway Stage 1 and Stage 3.  The project includes 5 kilometres of new road, 16 bridges and close to 3 kilometres of active transport links. 

Benefits of the project include increasing road capacity at Sydney airport, both domestic and international airports.  As well as assisting traffic links to Port Botany and St Peter’s interchange.  JHSWJV will support more than 4,000 jobs over the life of the project.  
Stage 1: International Terminal and Qantas Drive connection – a new high capacity road connection, linking the Sydney Motorway network at St Peter’s interchange with Sydney Airports International Terminal and Qantas Drive.

Stage 3: Domestic Terminal access – an arterial road connection and flyover to Sydney Airport’s Domestic Terminals. This Stage includes improvements to existing roads, to relieve congestion and improve connectivity to Sydney Airport Domestic Terminals and towards Port Botany. 

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Senior People Advisor to join the team on Sydney Gateway. 

Key Responsibilities include:

Key responsibilities are to lead the generalist “People” related activities:

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures, in accordance with current legislation and People management practices;
  • Lead the effectiveness of the performance management process and address poor performance, breaches of the Global Mandatory Requirements and poor behaviours when required to ensure alignment to the Sydney Gateway Vision and Values;
  • Monitor People Team compliance and recommend improvement or change initiatives when required;
  • Provide proactive advice and support on HR systems, processes and address resourcing requirements, business partner all People matters;
  • Provide data, information and progress reports related to human resource activities to support continuous improvement;
  • Ensure cost reporting, tracking and forecasting is developed for relevant People Team cost codes and attend monthly cost reviews;
  • Lead and champion the Reward & Recognition Program;
  • Develop, Implement the Succession Planning Process for staff;
  • Implement the demobilisation process for staff;
  • Provide advice and implement the Cultural Framework process to support employee development and ensure the Project meets client and project requirements, to develop skills and future capability;
  • Assist with the cultural transformation, team alignment, embedding the values at grass roots level and be involved in the Staff Engagement Survey as required;
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and application of, legislation, industry standards and technological innovations as relevant to your role.
  • Provide recommendations to the People Lead in the implementation of People Strategies.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Degree in Commerce in Human Resource Management or Industrial Relations or post secondary training or TAFE certificate in HR, Industrial Relations or Employee Relations. Equivalent on the job experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a human resources role in the infrastructure sector.
  • Ability to work autonomously to resolve issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of national and state regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of contractual and commercial awareness of employment legislation including government policy.
