We are currently looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Lead to join us, based on a project in development that you will see through to delivery.

About the Role

Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a permanent career opportunity with John Holland.

 

As an Accounts Payable Lead, you will be based on one of our project’s currently in development, located in Melbourne’s north. 
Leading a small team, you will provide senior financial support to the work’s package teams, processing and administering creditor payments, verifying and reconciling of invoices, ensuring compliance to John Holland policies and statutory requirement e.g. those set by the ATO. Ensure a strong focus on dispute resolution, problem solving, team development and responding to customers internal and external vendor queries.

Responsibilities of the role include;

•    Promote a culture of business excellence within the finance and administration function through governance, accountability, innovation, transparency and reporting against all established performance objectives.
•    Provide leadership to create an effective team by providing guidance, training, and development to staff on finance and administration processes and procedures to deliver a consistently high standard of process and discipline across all work packages. At times this may includes addressing under performance and working with management on a team members development plan.
•    Manage the team’s daily and weekly workflow tasks, allocation of supplier accounts to individual team members, and working with Procurement, CA’s and Project Engineers to ensure sufficient purchase commitments exist in our systems to receipt and process invoices   
•    Review ledgers to ensure ageing deliveries not invoices, invoices and commitments are cleared in a timely manner are managed by the accounts payable team 
•    Prepare and process electronic transfer payments (EFTs) to creditors and distribute remittance advices
•    Ensure the team regularly reconcile all assigned vendor accounts to statements and resolving disputes in a timely manner
•    Ensure that cash flow forecasts are prepared in a timely manner and monitor variances to budget
•    Provide guidance to all staff on accounts payable procedures, ensure that GST requirements are correctly accounted for on all invoices and payment requests
•    Review, sort and prepare invoices for processing and payment, including validation that the invoice details are in line ATO requirements
•    Address and respond to internal and external vendor enquiries and follow up any outstanding items with the responsible personnel
•    Provide general administrative support as and when required
•    Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures

To be successful in this role, you will have;

•    Higher School Certificate
•    Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related area
•    More than 5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable within construction, preferably Major Projects, Rail or Infrastructure 
•    Proven ability drive process improvement and development of team members 
•    Experience administering the relevant accounting systems utilised by the project 
•    Schedule of Rates experience
•    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills as well as leadership skills
•    Proven time management, planning and organisational skills and attention to detail
•    You need to be able to meet any requirements which are necessary to safely perform your role (e.g. receiving a COVID-19 vaccination pursuant to a relevant health order or by clients, or as otherwise required)
