About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?

 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Communications Advisor to join our team on the Beveridge to Albury (B2A) Tranche-2 (T2) project.

 

In this role, you will play a critical part in delivering clear, engaging, and effective communication strategies to support the project’s objectives and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, community members, and internal teams.

 

While based in the Docklands, Melbourne, this role will require travel to project sites as needed, with locations ranging from Wandong to Benalla.

 

Project Description

 

Inland Rail is a 1600km freight rail line connecting Melbourne and Brisbane that will transform how goods are moved around Australia. In Victoria, Inland Rail (IRPL) is upgrading 262km of existing rail line between Beveridge and Albury at 12 sites.

 

John Holland is delivering the scope of works at eight of these Victorian sites (Tranche-2) to allow double-stacked freight trains to pass safely and ensure everyday products can be delivered faster and more reliably.

 

B2A T2 works include adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across project sites between Wandong and Benalla. 

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

 

  • Develop and implement communication plans to support the delivery of the B2A T2 project.
  • Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and media representatives to provide timely and accurate project updates.
  • Assist with the preparation of communication materials, including newsletters, media releases, fact sheets and social media content.
  • Coordinate regular photography opportunities with a project photographer, to capture progression of works and milestones across the project.
  • Coordinate events, community engagement activities, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Monitor and manage stakeholder feedback, ensuring concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain alignment with John Holland’s brand and communication guidelines across all materials and channels.
  • Support internal communications to ensure teams are informed and aligned with project developments.
  • Prepare reports and track the effectiveness of communication initiatives.

 

To be successful in this key role, we are looking for;

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a similar communications or stakeholder engagement role.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Experience managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community groups, local councils, and media.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a strong focus on delivering outcomes.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to project sites as required, ranging from Wandong to Benalla.
