About the Project
John Holland has been named as the preferred contractor to deliver the North-East Link, Hoddle St to Bourke Road package of works. The Momentum Alliance is made up of John Holland, Seymour Whyte and design
partners Mott MacDonald and Jacobs Group, in partnership with MRPV.
The scope of works includes upgrading six kilometres of the Freeway with new traffic lanes, bridge upgrades and urban noise walls, a dedicated busway (fully segregated from mainline traffic), and a new bridge
over the Yarra River.
The NEL Project involves the design and construction of the upgrade of the Eastern Freeway from Hoddle Street in the west to Burke Road in the east, including:
- 6km of brownfield freeway widening to accommodate additional traffic lanes in each direction
- 3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
- Significant structures including 600m of bridges, including a 180m architectural steel shared use path bridge of the Yarra River
- Freeway-wide scope including ITS, retaining walls, stormwater drainage, noise walls, lighting and signage
Site location to be around Chandler Highway / Eastern Freeway interchange.
About the Role
Control the finance and accounting methods, practices and procedures of projects and/or the organisation. Prepare appropriate financial assessment, accounting records, reports and other information, allowing senior management to make informed business decisions and thereby improve the organisation’ profitability.
What you will do;
- Direct and review the analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information for use in management and decision making.
- Review and analyse operating results in relation to cost, budgets and operating policies. Consolidate capital asset, maintenance and operating budgets.
- Participate in the development of short and longer-term financial policies, objectives and plans and oversee the implementation of agreed financial plans.
- Prepare schedules for financial reporting in accordance with management and statutory requirements.
- Ensure major capital expenditure requests comply with budgets and approval systems. Maintain a regular review of income and expenditure to ensure cash flow is adequate to meet future business needs.
- Monitor outstanding debtors and assist project Managers to resolve.
- Audit the procurement process and ensure that all requisitions and related invoices are authorised by the nominated person
- Audit project wage employee remuneration including timesheets.
- Interpret operating results as they affect the financial position of the project/corporation and make recommendations for cost reduction and profit improvement.
- Compile, review and analysis forecast information to evaluate the final financial position of the project
- Liaise with the projects/companies external auditors as required.
- Contribute to the selection and/or training of finance staff.
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key personnel informed.
What we are looking for;
Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications in a Business, Commerce/Statistics or relevant discipline
Experience:
- Demonstrated accounting experience and/or experience in a similar role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
- Highly developed computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS excel.
