We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Coordinator to join us.
About the Role;
Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a long-term career opportunity with John Holland.
As an Engineering Coordinator, you will be required to support the package through management of constructability inputs to design, assessment of scope growth, construction RFI’s and resolution of technical issues. You will contribute to the planning, procurement and development of the design through management of consultants, to ensure alignment with delivery requirements such as scope, staging, program and target budget.
Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do
• Assist in the planning and procurement of design to ensure achievement of project objectives and KPIs.
• Coordinate the interaction of project members in the design delivery process, including design, construction, planning, estimators and community and stakeholder.
• Determine construction methodology and programme in conjunction with delivery team
• Monitor design documentation progress against the program and elevate key issues to senior management
• Review design documentation and assist in the stakeholder review and approvals process.
• Optimize design solutions through design team coordination, value engineering and innovation. Propose alternative solutions to complex issues
• Input to SiD process and temporary works design as required
• Manage the RFI process and initiate and manage Design Changes where required
• Arrange and oversee the procurement of various contractors
• Coordinate or undertake any support activities to ensure contractors are not delayed
• Carry out monitoring and surveillance to ensure contractors are complying with management plans, designs and specifications
• Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen in decision making and management of contracts
• Manage contracts to ensure the delivery of the works does not exceed the target budget
• Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures
To be successful in this key role, you will have;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent
• Demonstrated years’ post graduate engineering experience
• Demonstrated years’ site-based experience
• Project Engineer or operational experience
• Advanced commercial acumen including cost reduction and meeting budgets
• Understanding of Quality Management, Safety Management, Environmental Management and Projects Design Plans
• Effective time management skills including sequencing of work
• Strong written, verbal and personal presentation skills
• You need to be able to meet any requirements which are necessary to safely perform your role (e.g. receiving a COVID-19 vaccination pursuant to a relevant health order or by clients, or as otherwise required)
