About The Role
We are recruiting for an Engineering Manager who will be involved in the leadership and direction of a multi-billion dollar civil infrastructure projects Bulk Earthworks and Ground Improvement Engineering function, inclusive of Design, Digital Engineering, Temporary Works, Construction Phase Services and Systems Engineering and Assurance.
The Engineering Manager will work closely with the Alliance Delivery Team to understand construction staging and methodology and to ensure a design solution which aligns to this strategy whilst managing risks associated with bulk earthworks, ground improvement, foundation design and contaminated land management
Responsibilities of the role include
- Engineering development of the bulk earthworks and ground improvement designs for a rail stabling yard at a geotechnically complex site
- Coordination and delivery of geotechnical, hydrogeological and environmental site investigation required to support the design development of multiple sites across the Alliance scope
- Implementation and management of existing and new geotechnical and hydrogeological instrumentation and monitoring, including subcontractor management
- Plan and control the delivery of Alliance earthworks and ground improvement designs to ensure the achievement of quality, completion, and Alliance objectives
- Support the construction program, meet stakeholder requirements, and maintain a strong focus on driving positive outcomes across safety, quality, environment, stakeholders, community, and time.
- Manage and coach engineering staff and foster a high-performance working environment
- Exhibit leadership in health, safety, environmental, sustainability and risk management
- Demonstrate commercial and contractual awareness in dealing with clients and external technical partners
- Understand design compliance and reporting procedures and processes and leadership in the communication of requirements
- Create and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate a collaborative and positive design review process
- Facilitate timely decision making, appropriate assessment of change requests and opportunities for early commencement of works
- Manage the interface between site-based delivery staff and design consultants to identify risks, opportunities and smart solutions to address challenges relating to performance of bulk earthworks and ground improvement activities across Alliance sites whilst maximising innovation
- Seek guidance and input from industry specialists in relation to treatments and solutions to be applied
- Liaise with external parties required to comment upon or approve works to ensure compliance
- Coordinate with ultimate asset owners to facilitate a smooth acceptance and handover of completed site assets
- Manage the design approval process in accordance with Alliance requirements and program
- Manage the interface between project design teams and parent company assurance processes
What we are looking for
- Multidiscipline experience specialising in design, engineering, and construction with specific experience in bulk earthworks and geotechnical design
- Management of technical teams in the delivery of design and engineering solutions, including planning and budget management
- Financial management skills in planning and managing budgets included demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs
- At least 15 years industry experience of which 8 years should be in engineering and technical management roles
