John Holland is proud to be a key delivery partner on the Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP), responsible for the Operations & Maintenance of the transformative Metro Tunnel Project.

About the Role

 

Safety is fundamental to everything we do.   

 

Working for John Holland as part of the Cross Yarra Partnership Maintenance team, the HSE Advisor will adopt the CYP Maintenance project’s core HSE values to assist in developing, implementing and monitoring the Health, Safety, Environment and Rail Safety program.

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Implement the safety culture during the Mobilisation Phase and Maintenance Phase
  • ­ Assist in establishing, implementing, and monitoring compliance with, the HSE & RS systems and procedures within the workplace
  • ­ Support the development, reviewing and implementing of HSE & RS management plans
  • ­ Support the SQE risk management activities, including working with the maintenance team to develop the Workplace Risk Assessment (WRA) and associated Activity Method Statements (AMS)
  • ­ Support the risk transfer process from the D&C Phase to the Maintenance Phase
  • ­ Provide day to day HSE & RS support to internal stakeholders
  • ­ Analyse safety problems and recommend solutions to appropriate managers
  • ­ Conduct routine HSE & RS inspections, monitoring and analysis of work areas
  • ­ Conduct investigations of site accidents and incidents that may require litigation
  • ­ Support the subcontractor engagement process, including safety requirements within subcontractor agreements
  • ­ Review subcontractor safety systems and processes, including Task Risk Assessments (TRA) ­
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of the HSE & RS program ­
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies ­
  • Maintain knowledge of HSE & RS policies and procedures to enable the performance of assigned duties in a safe manner ­
  • Maintain professional relationships with site personnel and key internal and external stakeholders to foster the professional image of the organisation ­
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures ­
  • Provide a strong safety leadership to influence the safety climate and build a positive safety culture ­
  • Set a positive safety example for the for Project team members to follow and work towards ­
  • Support RIW systems, personnel training & induction and contractor compliance for the project

 

To be successful in the role we are looking for:

 

Qualifications      

        

  • Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Cert IV in Environmental Management
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Quality, Environment, Project Management or other associated disciplines
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Internal Environmental Auditor Qualification
  • Train Track Safety Awareness

                               

Experience      

 

  • Construction/Maintenance HSE management (3+ years)
  • Experience in HSE management techniques and tools
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spread sheet and email software
  • Ability to conduct and interpret audits and reviews
