We are looking for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our expanding Safety team within our rail Infrastructure Team based in Victoria. As our Safety Advisor, keeping people safe is your not a goal but your passion.

This role will be based inner west Melbourne working with Worksites based across Melbourne and Regional Victoria.

Responsibilities of the role include:

- Provide expert advice relating to best rail construction industry Safety practices, systems and procedures to John Holland site supervisors and superintendents specific to the rail environment.
- Engage and collaborate with stakeholders to build a user centred HSEQ management system and drive consistent application across the group
- Analyse and improve the framework for monitoring and reviewing John Holland’s HSEQ management system, including building business cases for improvements, and capturing lessons learnt
- Research and interpret standards, legislation, and codes of practice in order to develop compliant, practical and operationally relevant HSEQ systems
- Conduct HSEQ governance and audit activities, and report on performance
- Support operations with the implementation of HSEQ initiatives and business improvement opportunities to realise increased efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide technical advice (where required) for operations as it relates to HSEQ management systems
- Work closely with our teams to provide assistance and guidance on various worksites across Victoria, ensure safety systems and procedures are followed to ensure adherence with legislative requirements.
- Actively participate in the development of Task Risk Assessments, Safety, Quality and Environmental documents for our teams projects
- Monitoring and conducting regular Safety compliance checks and audits with the project sites.
- Actively involve and coach supervisors and personnel to support their ongoing development and knowledge of Safety processes and practices
- Maintaining HSEQ requirements of clients and staff inductions via numerous online portals and other means
- Provide environmental guidance, diligence, and consistency to internal stakeholders
- Provide advice and input into the identification and effective management of environmental risks

To be successful in this role you must have:

- Bachelor’s degree in OHS, Environmental Science, Quality or other associated disciplines
- Environment and/or Safety Practitioner within Rail Construction
- Extensive use and knowledge of HSE Management systems and procedures
- Drafting, writing and reviewing HSE procedures
- Monitoring operational compliance with core system elements
- Collaborating with varied and senior stakeholders to develop operating procedures and address areas of non-compliance
- Good knowledge of Microsoft product including SharePoint
- Current Driver's Licence
- Demonstrated experience of at least 3-5 years in complex high risk rail environments with a proven track record of consistent, successful, and positive outcomes.
