We are looking for a Health & Safety Administrator to join us.
About the Role;
The primary purpose of the Health & Safety Administrator is to support the Health & Safety team in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment across John Holland’s projects and operations. Under the guidance of experienced safety professionals, the trainee will assist with the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and initiatives, as well as participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
This role provides hands-on experience and training in safety management, equipping the trainee with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a culture of safety excellence while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do
- Monitor compliance with the safety systems and procedures within the workplace and provide operational support to the project management team.
- Research and assist with the development of safety policies specific to the project.
- Administer safety programs for project employees.
- Assist with workers compensation claims and rehabilitation processes.
- Assist with conducting incident and accident investigations that may require litigation.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and monitoring work areas.
- Establish positive working relationships with project personnel and raise awareness of safety risks.
- Assist in the development of communications tools and records for all project safety meetings.
- Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of project safety programs.
- Monitor and evaluate the project safety programs for value and effectiveness.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable legislative requirements including government regulations, standards and policies.
- Maintain professional relationships with regulatory bodies and clients to foster the professional image of John Holland.
- Evaluate, investigate and gather information that will address inadequacies concerning safety matters.
- Review specific high risk planned works to be undertaken to ensure compliance with the method of work.
- Order appropriate stocks of PPE as directed.
- Support the communication of SQE requirements to the project.
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures.
