We are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join the Alliance.
About the Role;
Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a permanent career opportunity with John Holland.
As an Alliance Health & Safety Manager, you will establish procedures and implement programs to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all project personnel across NWPA in addition to directing and providing guidance on safety and health programs.
Reporting to the General Manager - Delivery, you will lead an experienced Health and Safety team with a supportive culture and focus on collaboration and success.
Responsibilities of the role include;
- Develop and administer Health and Safety education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within a defined workplaces.
- Contribute to the development and implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health and Safety.
- Investigate the causes of serious events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Assist other HSE Managers for the Operating Units or projects, manage and oversee compliance and governance with our HSE management systems.
- Provide support, coordination and advice of Health and Safety practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplaces.
- Provide training education and awareness as well as mentoring for Health and Safety aspects.
- Maintain comprehensive Health and Safety records and manage all statutory Health and Safety reporting requirements.
- Maintain an update-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company Health and Safety requirements, ensuring management and staff are kept informed of any relevant changes to legal, regulatory and company Health and Safety requirements.
- Coordinate and provide day to day specialist support to the Project Leadership team, employees, contractors, clients and visitors during the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with key stakeholders on Health and Safety specific requirements.
- Lead, develop and support an existing high performing team across Health and Safety within NWPA.
To be successful in this key role, you will have;
- Diploma of Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, Quality, Project Management or other associated disciplines (or significant experience in a similar role).
- Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Internal Environmental Auditor Qualification.
- Construction HSE management (5+ years), alternatively you will have significant experience in a Project Safety Manager position working within the Construction and Engineering industry.
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
- Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes (especially those relating to Comcare), and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project.
