About the Role
The National Operations Quality Manager provides national operational support to ensure the consistent and effective implementation of quality management systems, strategies and initiatives across our projects. Reporting to the General Manager – Quality, this role works closely with operations and quality teams to support statutory and contractual compliance, strengthen quality practices and drive continuous improvement. A key focus will be on driving disciplined and consistent application of quality frameworks to support compliant and high‑performing project delivery. This role will also be responsible for operational quality support across Major Projects, which will involve regular travel. Location is flexible and can be based in either Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.
What you will do:
- Provide operational quality leadership and support to Business Unit Operations Quality Managers, ensuring consistency and discipline across projects
- Drive the rollout and effective use of quality management systems, procedures and digital tools across all projects
- Support the Project Launch process to ensure quality requirements are embedded from commencement
- Lead national quality initiatives and forums, including the National Quality Reference Group
- Partner with senior leaders to shape and deliver the national quality strategy
- Ensure quality manuals, plans and procedures remain current, compliant and fit for purpose
- Develop and implement role-based quality training to build capability across operations and quality teams
- Establish and manage a national audit schedule, participating in audits and ensuring effective close‑out of actions
- Analyse quality performance and process outcomes to identify risks, trends and improvement opportunities
- Drive lessons learnt and continuous improvement initiatives across the business
What we are looking for:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quality Management or a related discipline
- QMS Lead Auditor certification
- Extensive quality management and quality assurance experience across major projects from commencement through to completion within construction, infrastructure, transport or related industries
- Strong expertise in quality management systems, and AS/NZS ISO 9001, applied across complex, project-based environments
- Proven experience influencing and engaging senior internal and external stakeholders to drive consistent quality outcomes
- Demonstrated experience auditing management systems, major projects, suppliers and subcontractors, including audit planning and close‑out
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying non‑conformance and continuous improvement opportunities
- Ability to develop, implement and improve quality systems, workflows and procedures
