John Holland is currently seeking a People Advisor to join the Building division based in our Melbourne CBD office. We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who can become a trusted partner to our people and our projects. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment and have the eagerness to learn, then this is the role for you!

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide advice and support to the business unit in all human resource matters
  • Provide assistance in the implementation of HR and safety policies, procedures, programs and initiatives, in alignment with the business needs.
  • Assist with any review and analysis of company policies and practices to ensure they continue to support the organisation’s needs.
  • Work collaboratively with our Resourcing team which may include interviewing potential candidates 
  • Support new employees during their on-boarding, which may include coordinating and conducting inductions.
  • Coordinate the probation review process, which may include issuing and following up on probation documentation.
  • Coordinate the Building Graduates and take part in the Graduate Program activities 
  • Support managers on employment matters such as discipline, remuneration, termination and any grievances.
  • Proactively manage and communicate both Group and BU diversity initiatives 
  • Prepare human resource related documents, presentations, and statistics/data for employees and managers.
  • Coordinate safety processes including reporting, communication and safety initiatives.
  • Build positive relationships through influence and negotiation with employees, managers, subcontractors, and external stakeholder groups across the business.
  • Assist in the implementation of training and development initiatives in the organisation.
  • Promote the awareness of the EAP and assist employees in need of support.


To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor Degree in HR, Business or similar.
  • 3-5 years experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and influencing skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • The ability to work autonomously.
  • Previous IR/ER experience is desirable
