About John Holland

At John Holland, our purpose is simple – we transform lives with everything we do.

We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.

That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.

Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.

Are you up for the challenge?

The People Services team manages and processes the administration and electronic documentation of all employee related movements, transfers, employment contracts, allowances, relocations and system records. This is a great opportunity to kickstart your career in HR by building a foundation of knowledge of HR processes, gaining exposure to employee relations and employment law concepts, and applying this learning in a practical, fast paced and hands-on environment.

You will be an energetic people person with an unflappable nature, exceptional administrative skills, the ability manage competing priorities and get things done, as well as confidence in working directly with stakeholders at all levels and managing expectations accordingly. You will be confident and articulate, have the utmost respect for confidentiality and sensitive information, thrive under pressure, like getting your hands dirty and be a natural problem solver.

This role requires precision, a sharp eye for detail, thirst for learning, alignment with governance and compliance requirements, managing documentation and system records with accuracy and care, willingness to question if something makes sense, and the desire to build your skillset in a large, complex organisation with many moving parts.

This is a 12-month opportunity based in our landmark office on Flinders Street in Melbourne.

What you will do;

  • Deliver efficient, consistent and quality employee relations administration support including prompt and accurate actioning of electronic employee movement forms, generation of employee letters, and organising relocation in accordance with the procedural requirements.
  • Upload/Check documents for all new employees that are received from Resourcing such as Criminal Record checks, References, Medicals, Licenses, Tickets, Qualifications and Right to Work documents into an online archive system.
  • Record new employee information such as medicals, right to work and qualifications in our HRIS system.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to the business in relation to the systems and processes that underpin the performance and governance of the function.

What we are looking for;

  • Experience in high volume HR administration or coordination, ideally within the construction/engineering industry
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills
  • Experience using SAP SuccessFactors or similar HRIS software

Career progression underpinned by our exciting pipeline of work means you’ll have the opportunity to work on iconic projects that are shaping cities and communities.

Learning and development opportunities where you’ll have access to emerging talent programs, building your career through clear career pathways, plus technical and leadership training and development opportunities.
