Are you up for the challenge?
We are currently looking for a Principal Hydrology and Drainage Engineer to join our Technology, Engineering and Knowledge (TEK) division. This position can be based out of Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
Working within the Hydrology and Drainage team, you will take a leading role in the development of design and construction solutions to address temporary and permanent hydrology and drainage elements, including the management and coordination of external consultants.
In this role you will support the design delivery process by managing the validation and development of hydrology and drainage models and concepts through pre-contracts phase to completion, assisting in the delivery of successful project outcomes.
About the Role
- Provide solutions to complex challenges using software and detailed knowledge of hydrology and drainage design in accordance with latest design standards.
- Contribute to winning bid strategies and bid structures, in particular identifying and implementing opportunities to employ high level concept and as required, innovative engineering solutions to optimise bids
- Conduct tender reviews and project reviews to ensure hydrology and drainage designs are efficient, safe and constructable
- Provide alternative solutions and advice to mitigate risks to construction programme and quantities
- Awareness and full understanding of national and state safety regulatory frameworks, systems and key risks
- When necessary, perform site inspections and work with construction teams on the design, installation, construction and commissioning of hydrology & drainage work
- Effectively contribute to lead and manage teams of engineers
- Provide technical advice and solutions to group clients and assist in client negotiations
- Attend to the technical aspects of requests for quotations and technical literature
- Contribute to communication and relationships with key stakeholders on the construction and operations components at each phase of project cycle.
- Contribute to creation and development of TEK communities of practice for Hydrology and Drainage
About You
This role will see you holding a degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering degree from an institute recognised by Engineers Australia. You will have Engineers Australia membership and Engineers Australia Chartered Status (or be working towards).
Other requirements:
- Significant relevant experience in producing high quality technical outputs related to Hydrology and Drainage
- Strong design skills and experience
- Proficiency in drainage design and flood modelling using TUFLOW and 12D
You will enjoy working collaboratively and be able to foster effective strategic relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally.
