The Opportunity

North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) consists of five Alliance partners – John Holland, KBR, MTM, V/Line and the client (VIDA Rail), working together as one team to achieve shared goals.

 

Since 2017, NWPA has had a proven track record with the successful delivery of ten level crossing removal projects (17 LX) and several premium stations, with four projects currently in delivery and three in development phase.

 

We're seeking a Project Controls Lead to deliver strategic and operational support to the Alliance Management team and NWPA projects. This role involves providing leadership and guidance across all aspects of project controls, cost management, risk analysis, reporting, and performance monitoring. The Project Controls Lead will ensure robust project control procedures are implemented, oversee project controls and forecasting activities, and support the team in interpreting data and developing corrective actions to optimise project outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • ­Develop, implement and manage project controls functions in line with established procedures.
  • Proactively lead a project controls culture across the Alliance Partners, Business Group, focusing on earned value management, cost control and risk management.
  • Identify and communicate issues and opportunities early to relevant teams.
  • Provide training and guidance in project controls systems, and interpretation of data.
  • Supervise staff responsible for project controls, including oversight of projects performance.
  • Compile and collate benchmarking data for future projects.
  • Implement project monitoring systems with a focus on time, cost, scope and resources.
  • Ensure monitoring and reporting of project controls processes is successfully set-up and implemented on projects
  • Implement & manage digital daily costing systems. Provide training and guidance to the team and subcontractors for an effective use of digital dockets, site diaries and daily progress.
  • Assist project and delivery managers in report interpretation, project performance analysis, forward planning and development of corrective actions to maximise project delivery outcomes.

Position Requirements

  • Over 5 years’ experience in construction, engineering, planning, or project controls.
  • Skilled in earned value management, cost controls and risk management.
  • Proficient with project controls software and tools, including Primavera, Schedule Risk Analysis, Earned Value, and Cash Flow Analysis.
  • Leadership and management of project controls teams.
