About the Project
This project involves collaboration with Homes Victoria on the demolition of social housing buildings across multiple sites, including Flemington, North Melbourne, and Carlton. This initiative supports the redevelopment and renewal of social housing infrastructure to enhance community living standards and provide improved housing solutions.
About The Role
Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure demolition projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications, while adhering to safety and environmental standards.
Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports, including cost forecasting for demolition activities.
Monitor demolition progress for adherence to programme and report to the Site Manager or Project Manager, ensuring timelines and safety protocols are maintained.
Interpret designs for implementation in demolition projects, including site-specific considerations such as existing structures, hazardous materials, and waste management.
Contribute to improvements to existing designs, incorporating innovative approaches to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact during demolition.
Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders, ensuring subcontractors are experienced in demolition practices and comply with safety regulations.
Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions, particularly in managing costs related to demolition processes, waste removal, and site preparation.
Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards, including compliance with demolition-specific codes and regulations.
Execute working knowledge of contractual obligations and legislation relevant to demolition projects, including hazardous material handling and disposal regulations.
Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment, and quality risk assessments to ensure acceptable quality of demolition processes and outcomes.
Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting, and compliance reporting, with an emphasis on managing demolition-specific risks.
Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve safe and effective demolition outcomes.
Utilise effective time management skills, including sequencing of work and resource time management, to ensure demolition activities are completed efficiently and in preparation for subsequent construction phases.
Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting, and procedures, with additional emphasis on demolition project requirements and client expectations.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated site-based experience with a Tier 1/2 head contractor in Australia, particularly in demolition projects.
- Familiarity with demolition-specific processes, safety standards, hazardous material management, and environmental regulations.
