About the Project
John Holland has been named as the preferred contractor to deliver the North-East Link, Hoddle St to Bourke Road package of works. The Eastern Hoddle Bourke Alliance (EHBA) is made up of John Holland, Seymour Whyte and design partners Mott MacDonald and Jacobs Group, in partnership with MRPV.
The scope of works includes upgrading six kilometres of the Freeway with new traffic lanes, bridge upgrades and urban noise walls, a dedicated busway (fully segregated from mainline traffic), and a new bridge over the Yarra River.
The NEL Project involves the design and construction of the upgrade of the Eastern Freeway from Hoddle Street in the west to Burke Road in the east, including:
6km of brownfield freeway widening to accommodate additional traffic lanes in each direction
3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
Significant structures including 600m of bridges, including a 180m architectural steel shared use path bridge of the Yarra River
Freeway-wide scope including ITS, retaining walls, stormwater drainage, noise walls, lighting and signage
Site location to be around Chandler Highway / Eastern Freeway interchange.
About the Role
Coordinate on-site construction engineering activities to achieve project time and budget objectives.
What you will do;
- Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications.
- Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports.
- Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Site Manger or Project Manager.
- Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects.
- Contribute to improvements to existing designs.
- Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders.
- Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions.
- Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards.
- Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project.
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
- Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting.
- Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
- Utilise effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management.
What we are looking for;
Qualification:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent.
Diploma of Project Management in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction or equivalent.
Chartered Engineering Status.
Experience:
Demonstrated Tier 1/2 infrastructure site based project experience
Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
Understanding of the Project Design Management Plan, Quality Management Plan. Safety Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan
Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning and legislative requirements
5-10 years’ post graduate experience with 3+ years site based
Project wide level of planning, development and review of complex projects
Delivery of minor projects to program and budget specifications
Effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource management
Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; Microsoft Suite; Primavera 6
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
