About North East Link - Hoodle to Bourke
John Holland has been named as the preferred contractor to deliver the North-East Link, Hoddle St to Bourke Road package of works. The Momentum Alliance is made up of John Holland, Seymour Whyte and design
partners Mott MacDonald and Jacobs Group, in partnership with MRPV.
The scope of works includes upgrading six kilometres of the Freeway with new traffic lanes, bridge upgrades and urban noise walls, a dedicated busway (fully segregated from mainline traffic), and a new bridge
over the Yarra River.
The NEL Project involves the design and construction of the upgrade of the Eastern Freeway from Hoddle Street in the west to Burke Road in the east, including:
6km of brownfield freeway widening to accommodate additional traffic lanes in each direction
3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
Significant structures including 600m of bridges, including a 180m architectural steel shared use path bridge of the Yarra River
Freeway-wide scope including ITS, retaining walls, stormwater drainage, noise walls, lighting and signage
Site location to be around Chandler Highway / Eastern Freeway interchange.
This role is a 12 month fixed maternity contract.
About the Role
Lead the successful delivery of North East Link - Hoodle to Bourke in accordance with design requirements, time and cost constraints, and commercial, HR, safety, quality, and environment and community targets.
Achieve or exceed project financial targets, identifying and mitigating issues as they arise and capitalising on opportunities.
What you will do;
Manage the overall delivery of the project, on or ahead of time with all client expectations met.
Assign resources to deliver the works within budget, time, quality and regulatory standards, monitor and guide workflow, setting daily, weekly, and long-term project goals.
Manage the execution of engineering, procurement and construction activities and adopt appropriate construction methods.
Review progress against plans, contractual arrangements and delivery milestones to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates and take effective remedial action as required.
Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
Demonstrate leadership in health, safety and environmental management
Demonstrate leadership in risk management, compliance and auditing, and ensure legislative, pre-contract and commercial obligations are met, including compliance with the relevant Building Code.
Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained.
People management: Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets, supervise workforce, including subcontractors, and foster a high performance team within a positive employee relations environment.
Contribute to new business, continuous improvement and broader business activities
Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures
What we are looking for;
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent
Diploma or Masters of Project Management, Certificate IV Safety
Experience:
Demonstrated years of project management experience.
Management of multidisciplinary projects and project teams.
Contemporary practices in design and construction methodology
Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance management
Advanced financial and commercial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets
People and performance management including the performance of subcontractors
Client relationship and stakeholder management
Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment
Analysis of and reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
Management of up to $100m projects
Experience as Project Development Manager and/or New Business Manager.
Experience in managing a variety of contracts, e.g. Joint Ventures, Alliances, Design & Construct.
