We are currently looking for a Regional Construction Manager to join our Rail Projects team based in our Corporate office in Melbourne CBD to support a portfolio of major rail works across Victoria. As the Regional Construction Manager, you will contribute to the success of our Rail Projects team by meeting or exceeding SQE, client, community and profitability objectives, whilst developing and strengthening loyal relationships with staff, key clients, partners, key subcontractors and suppliers.


Responsibilities of the role:
- Support the delivery of the portfolio of rail projects, ensuring delivery is on or ahead of time with all client expectations met. Co-ordinate on a regular basis with Project Directors to ensure issues of resourcing, performance and HSE are being managed across the region.
- Assist the General Manager, Rail Project with detailed financial and earned value reviews of projects on a monthly and quarterly basis, identifying issues and opportunities and ensuring tendered expectations are met.
- On an ad-hoc basis, be prepared to step into projects in a leadership role to manage specific issues and / or to implement performance improvement measures.
- Develop and maintain strategic regional business relationships with key clients and industry partners that result in viable projects and prospects.
- Provide operational support to bid teams to assist in the conversion of new opportunities and to ensure construction methodologies are optimal in terms of safety, time, cost, quality and deliverability.
- Review progress against plans, contractual arrangements and delivery milestones to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates and take effective remedial action as required
- Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with JH’s authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
- People management: Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure the projects have the capability to achieve targets, supervise workforce, including subcontractors, and foster a high-performance team within a positive employee relations environment through discipline, coaching and mentoring
- Stakeholder management:

To be successful in this role you must have:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience gained on construction, engineering or associated projects
- Successful construction management of multidisciplinary projects from a wide range of contract values and complexity
- Complex client relationship and stakeholder management
- Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance
- Advanced financial and commercial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets
- People and performance management including the performance of subcontractors
- Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment
