We are looking for a Safety Director to join the national Infrastructure & Major Projects business. the role will be responsible for developing, supporting and implementing project safety, health systems, strategies and programs to support the ongoing development or an effective health and safety culture.


Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Guide and support the Executive Leadership Team to develop and implement a Safety and Health culture that aligns to the Project vision, including the implementation of a safety and health culture framework.
  • Lead and manage the implementation of Safety, Health strategies, systems and initiatives across the Project and report progress to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Ensure the projects maintain robust risk management processes, capability, focus and discipline related to safety and the environment
  • Provide governance over the Projects of Safety, Health systems implementation effectiveness within the Project
  • Manage the project-specific sustainability goals and ensures that actions, procedures and tools are in place to provide surety of successful project delivery, which is in compliance with the project sustainability management plan and the project's contractual obligations.


To be successful in this key role, you must have;

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, Safety, Environment, Quality Management, Sustainability and/or other associated disciplines
  • Postgraduate qualifications in relevant other disciplines such as Safety, Environment, Sustainability, Project Management or Risk
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Environmental Lead Auditor Qualification
  • 10 years’ experience in Construction and/or heavy industry and high-risk workplaces, Engineering or other associated functional areas
  • Sound understanding of sustainability principles and application within the construction industry
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in the delivery and implementation of projects
  • Knowledge of Safety and Environment legislation and statutes, and the ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation
