Title:  Senior Commercial & Contracts Manager

About the Role

John Holland is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial and Contracts Manager to join the North Western Program  Alliance (NWPA) team based in Albion.

In this role you will promote, drive and support senior leadership and project teams in the implementation of effective commercial, contractual and financial management practices across the Alliance.

North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) consists of four Alliance partners – John Holland, KBR, MTM, V/Line and the client (LXRP), working together as one team to achieve shared goals.

Since 2017, NWPA has had a proven track record with the successful delivery of eight level crossing removal projects (17 LX) and several premium stations, with three projects currently in delivery and two in development phase.

Role responsibilities

• Lead contract and commercial management activities, providing expert advice to project teams and senior management on contractual obligations, commercial risks, claims, disputes, and contract compliance.
• Manage head contract and subcontract commercial outcomes, including interpreting contract requirements, identifying scope changes, preparing variations, and leading negotiations with clients and key stakeholders.
• Drive financial performance and governance, ensuring accurate forecasting, cost and revenue control, risk management, project reporting, and delivery of commercial targets and key result areas (KRAs).
• Build strong stakeholder and supplier relationships to drive positive commercial and project outcomes.
• Lead procurement, contract management, and supplier performance, maximising value, compliance, innovation, and risk management.
• Oversee and strengthen commercial, procurement, and contract management frameworks to ensure effective governance and compliance.
• Develop a high-performing team, building capability, collaboration, and a strong performance culture.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
• Significant experience in commercial and contract management within construction, engineering, infrastructure, or related industries.
• Proven experience in a commercial leadership or a commercial management role.
• Strong capability in commercial performance reporting and legislative compliance to mitigate business risk.
