The Opportunity

North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) consists of five Alliance partners – John Holland, KBR, MTM, V/Line and the client (LXRP), working together as one team to achieve shared goals.

 

Since 2017, NWPA has had a proven track record with the successful delivery of eight level crossing removal projects (13 LX) and several premium stations, with two projects currently in delivery (4 LX) and three in development phase.

We're currently seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to be based at our Sunshine (Albion) office.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform a client-facing and inter-alliance facing environment decision making role
  • Inform and be consulted on planning decisions that impact delivery
  • Provide and take leadership responsibility in site environmental management.
  • Lead environmental management and investigations, including coordination of environmental investigation scopes such as baseline water quality monitoring and contamination testing balancing requirements
  • Coordinate the work and performance of multiple work crews and subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Work with site engineers to ensure high quality work packs are generated for field works.
  • Contribute to development of work methods and rolling short term construction programs and plan daily/weekly production work.
  • Maintain effective consultation with various workers’ representatives and committees on industrial and safety subjects handling issues as they arise and referring major issues to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure Environmental administrative requirements are met including uploading of information into Project Pack Web (PPW) and Soteria.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable legislative and compliance requirements. Assist Workplace Leaders, Workplace Managers and Workforce in understanding their legislative obligations.
  • Consult with workers to identify opportunities for efficiencies and streamlining of environmental processes, striving to be a leader within the industry.
  • Gather and listen to feedback from stakeholders and peer groups on ways to improve environmental programs.

Position Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environment or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor of Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Law or Planning
  • Technical competency and understanding of all environmental aspects, including dust, vibration, ecology, contamination and heritage.
  • Skill in review of planning and environment approvals, commercial agreements, interface agreements, design documents, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement final design plans.
  • People and Performance Management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour.
  • Strong aptitude for understanding practical delivery risks and planning approval condition risk upon delivery
  • Strong aptitude for contamination investigation and management
  • Environmental works including, but not limited to, contaminated land management, arboriculture works, heritage obligations, landscaping and civil works.
  • Other associated works such as excavation and trenching, activities impacting erosion and sediment control, and hazardous substances and dangerous goods management (including storage, use, transport and disposal).
