About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?

 

As a Signalling Senior Project Engineer on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 Project you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the project, ensuring that all signalling systems are designed, installed, and commissioned to the highest standards, meet project specifications, and industry regulations.
The role is primarily based out of our main office in Docklands. However, it will from time to time involve travel to various construction sites to ensure that project deliverables are achieved in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

 

Project Description

 

Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities. 
The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works. 
Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

 

Overall responsibility for the role on this high-profile major project include:

 

  • Lead and manage the design, procurement, installation, and testing and commissioning of signalling systems for various project sites.
  • Lead any necessary cost estimating of works, including cost forecasting.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that all signalling requirements are met and integrated seamlessly with other project elements.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and contractors.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Monitor project progress, identify any issues or risks, and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, including designs, specifications, and reports.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to signalling systems.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in signalling engineering, within the construction industry.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of signalling systems, including design, installation, and commissioning processes.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to successfully deliver projects within deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with the capability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in signalling engineering.
