About North Western Program Alliance

 

North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) consists of four Alliance partners – John Holland, KBR, MTM, V/Line and the client (LXRP), working together as one team to achieve shared goals.   Since 2017, the Victorian Government has entrusted North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) and our Alliance partners to remove dangerous and congested level crossings, deliver new rail stations and infrastructure, and create more community open spaces.  

 

Our Alliance currently has three projects in delivery and two in development phase, along with the successful delivery of ten level crossing removal projects (17LX) and several premium stations.

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer- Traffic to join our Melton Line Upgrade (MLU) Project.

About the Role

 

Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a long-term career opportunity with John Holland.

 

As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will plan, design, coordinate and monitor temporary traffic management to achieve project time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.


Reporting into the Traffic Manager, some responsibilities will include procurement of traffic control devices and road safety barriers, traffic management planning, scheduling, forecasting, reporting and being the interface between clients/consultants/suppliers. You will undertake traffic management planning and estimating for NPA development projects and provide operational support to on-site traffic engineers.

Responsibilities of the role include;

 

•    Develop strategies to ensure traffic management is measured, planned and implemented in accordance with best practices and to ensure the health and safety standards and regulations are consistently maintained
•    Work in collaboration with engineers and managers to interpret designs and work methodologies to identify traffic management needs and requirements
•    Review traffic and transport matters impacting the project and provide innovative and appropriate solutions for improvements.
•    Establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an open dialogue of communication related to traffic matters
•    Provide technical advise to site personnel on road safety, traffic engineering and traffic management
•    Assist with preparation of site construction budgets and reports, specifically in relation to traffic management
•    Utilize effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management
•    Ensure all site works are carried out in accordance with approved plans and conforming to road safety plans and audits.
•    Supervise, plan, and review the work undertaken by our traffic contractors and traffic engineers
•    Demonstrate skills in reporting on traffic engineering performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance 
•    Conduct and administer job planning and programming with minimal disruption to the surrounding network from works that may include short range and intermediate activities for construction projects
•    Develop traffic management plans for al project work phases and locations ensuring the plan are compliant with Client, state government and industry requirements.
•    Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures

To be successful in this key role, you will have;

 

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent  
•    Demonstrated post graduate engineering experience in traffic management
•    Demonstrated site-based experience in civil/infrastructure/rail construction
•    Experience on Major Rail or Infrastructure Projects
•    Project Engineer and operational experience
•    Expertise knowledge of traffic management, plans, specifications, guidelines, standards and implications for project accountabilities
•    Advanced commercial acumen including cost reduction and meeting budgets
•    Delivery of major projects and teams to program and budget specifications 
•    Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management
•    People and performance management including the performance of subcontractors
•    Effective time management skills
