About John Holland
At John Holland, our purpose is simple – we transform lives with everything we do.
We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day. That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.
Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.
About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?
As a Civil Senior Project Engineer on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 Project, you will be instrumental in managing and overseeing civil works including earthworks, roadworks, drainage, and structures at our Euroa site on the B2A T2 project.
Your expertise and leadership will be key to driving the successful execution of our projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and quality. You will engage closely with project managers, the engineering team, and various stakeholders to coordinate and supervise the end-to-end construction aspects of the project.
Your role will be pivotal in the completion of this project, showcasing your advanced skills and flexibility, which will be particularly challenged due to the project's complex staging in a developed, brownfield environment.
The complexity is further increased by the need to synchronize efforts within the jurisdictions of two separate rail operators (ARTC and V/Line). The role is predominantly based in our project office in Euroa under a LAHA / DIDO arrangement to ensure the project targets are met but will also require travel to our main office in Docklands.
Project Description
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works.
Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla.

- Implement innovative approaches to address civil engineering challenges and improve the efficiency of construction operations.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, clients, and community representatives, to align with project objectives and expectations.
- Promote sustainable engineering practices to reduce environmental impact, in line with John Holland's commitment to environmental responsibility.
- Initiate and foster the enhancement of processes and methodologies to establish new industry benchmarks in civil infrastructure development.
To be successful in this key role, we are looking for;

- Comprehensive technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, standards, and compliance obligations.
