About the Project

 

John Holland has been named as the preferred contractor to deliver the North-East Link, Hoddle St to Bourke Road package of works. The Momentum Alliance is made up of John Holland, Seymour Whyte and design 

partners Mott MacDonald and Jacobs Group, in partnership with MRPV.


The scope of works includes upgrading six kilometres of the Freeway with new traffic lanes, bridge upgrades and urban noise walls, a dedicated busway (fully segregated from mainline traffic), and a new bridge 

over the Yarra River.


The NEL Project involves the design and construction of the upgrade of the Eastern Freeway from Hoddle Street in the west to Burke Road in the east, including:

 

  • 6km of brownfield freeway widening to accommodate additional traffic lanes in each direction
  • 3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
  • Significant structures including 600m of bridges, including a 180m architectural steel shared use path bridge of the Yarra River
  • Freeway-wide scope including ITS, retaining walls, stormwater drainage, noise walls, lighting and signage

 

Site location to be around Chandler Highway / Eastern Freeway interchange.

About the Role


Provide support to the project’s construction team to meet its sustainability requirements by ensuring that the project derives sustainable outcomes that are of value to our customers and meets its contractual obligations.

What you will do;


•    Assist, guide and positively challenge the Project Eastern Construction team in driving sustainable performance through the design and construction phase 
•    Assist, guide and positively challenge other Project teams in driving sustainable performance  
•    Lead the project Sustainability Contract Deliverables for the Project including interfacing with Client 
•    Implement actions, procedures and tools that provides surety of successful project delivery, which is in compliance with the project sustainability management plan and the project's contractual obligations  
•    Work with the broader project teams in the development of innovative sustainable solutions 
•    Effectively communicate key sustainability information to internal and external stakeholders  
•    Track and report performance against sustainability targets and objectives for Contract Requirements  
•    Compile and review sustainability Completion Report submission  
•    Keep up to date with ISCA, GBCA and new legislation in relation to sustainability 
•    Support a culture of contemporary thinking across the Project to help achieve the environmental, social, financial and governance goals of our customers and communities  
•    Attend and derive sustainable outcomes during design and construction and other functional led meetings 
•    Deliver and contribute to the sustainability training program for relevant project personnel and contractors, and support sustainability management tools training  
•    Establish methods to increase the awareness of sustainability issues across the project 

What we are looking for;

 

Qualifications:

 

•    Bachelor of Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or other associated disciplines 
•    Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional and Green Star Accredited Professional
•    Post graduate qualifications e.g. Masters in Engineering, or Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Environmental Management, Risk, Sustainability, Project Management or other associated disciplines.
•    ISO 9001 lead quality audits training.

 

Experience:


•    Demonstrated sustainability management experience on infrastructure or major projects in Australia.  
•    Experience in developing, implementing and reviewing integrated management systems. 
•    Understanding of sustainability principles, rating schemes and standards. 
•    Able to successfully coordinate the development and delivery of programs of work (incl. demonstrated project and change management skills). 
•    Proficient in developing and managing stakeholder groups across the business, geographic regions and external to the organisation. 
•    Able to facilitate training and focus group meetings/workshops on complex operational risks and legislative implications, and management standards.  
•    Proficient at measuring, analysing and communicating business performance. 
•    Understanding of risk management and its application in the construction context.  
•    Knowledge of tender requirements, project planning and delivery.
