Reporting to the Group Manager – Tax, we are currently seeking an experienced Senior Tax Adviser based at our Corporate Head Office in St Kilda Road, Melbourne. The primary purpose will be to ensure that the global tax obligations are managed in accordance with the laws and that tax risks are managed to an acceptable level.  You will assist in administering John Holland’s tax policy, risk and strategy.  With a focus on adding value you will provide pragmatic tax advice to the business.  The role will interact with various stakeholders within John Holland, Revenue offices, joint venture partners and external tax advisers.  

 

Responsibilities of the role include;
 

  •  Manage global direct tax compliance including preparation of corporate and partnership tax returns (including joint venture BAS returns)
  • Prepare tax effect accounting calculations on a quarterly basis and for statutory reporting purposes
  • Manage, monitor and advise on relevant cross border taxation issues, including transfer pricing compliance and documentation
  • Advise on Projects and Transactions from a tax perspective
  • Maintain and implement Tax Governance Framework
  • Identify process improvements and savings incentives

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce/Accounting (and a Bachelor of Laws optional) together with either a CA/TIA/CPA qualification, a tax post graduate degree or a legal professional qualification
  • Minimum 8 years tax experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or combination with industry tax role is desired
  • Solid accounting skills, particularly in tax effect accounting
  • Preferably with experience in property development, infrastructure development and investments business (including PPP’s)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and to strict deadlines
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships
