About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?

 

As a Signalling Site Engineer on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 Project, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful installation and commissioning of signalling systems on construction sites. 
The role will initially be based out of our main office in Docklands. However, will be regionally based once site mobilises. The role requires you to work closely with the project team across the eight different sites from Wandong to Benalla to ensure works are delivered in accordance with the project’s requirements.

 

Project Description

 

Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities. 
The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works. 
Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

Overall responsibility for the role on this high-profile major project include:

 

  • Assist in the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of signalling systems on construction sites, in compliance with safety standards, project specifications, and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, contractors, and stakeholders, to ensure the seamless integration of signalling systems with other project elements.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and quality checks to verify the proper installation and functioning of signalling equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the project team, identifying any risks or delays and proposing mitigation measures.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of project documentation, including signalling designs, test plans, reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to coordinate the procurement, delivery, and installation of signalling equipment and materials.
  • Support the project team in resolving any technical challenges or issues related to signalling systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in signalling engineering.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with clients, stakeholders, and relevant authorities regarding signalling system requirements, progress, and approvals.
  • Adhere to project timelines and budget constraints, assisting in managing resources efficiently.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, methodologies, and safety practices related to signalling engineering.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Signalling Engineer or in a similar role, within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of signalling systems, including equipment, control systems, communication protocols, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools used in signalling engineering
  • Understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and quality control procedures related to signalling systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and stakeholders.
