We are currently looking for an experienced Submissions Manager to join us, based across the Alliance.
 

About the Role

Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a permanent career opportunity with John Holland.

 

As the Submissions Manager, you will manage the production of Alliance Additional Works package submissions to secure new business. You, along with your team, will produce exceptional quality submissions and development documents, tailored to the requirements of the client and contribute to the overall bid strategy, coordination, implementation, control and completion of submissions, ensuring consistency with Alliance and JHG strategy and branding.
 

Responsibilities of the role include;

•    Manage the production of winning Additional Works Package submissions for the Alliance Program of Works and John Holland EOI and Tender submissions as required
•    Develop effective stakeholder engagement/communication strategies that protect and enhance JHG’s reputation, brand and market position.
•    Carry out research, update records and maintain detailed information as part of a busy and flexible team.
•    Apply project management skills with primary focus on setting priorities and coordinating multiple work requirements to meet deadlines.
•    Apply business acumen and analytical skills.
•    Form effective relationships with a key range of key stakeholders, both internal to JHG and external (i.e. Alliance, JV partners) and influence a broad range of working styles and personalities.
•    Coach the development/bid team in persuasive writing and submission best practice.
•    Communicate at a senior level with managers and company executives
•    Ensure a high attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and thoroughness for all written communications. 
•    Adapt communication style, approach and format to suit differing audiences.
•    Motivate teams in a fast-paced changing environment.
•    Show flexibility in working extra hours sometimes at short notice.
•    Evolve and continuously improve the approach and process of submission management.
•    Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures.
•    Identify skill and resource requirements necessary to undertake activities and develop resource plans.
•    Support the Alliance in all general publications as required.
 

To be successful in this role, you will have;

•    Bachelor’s Degree e.g. Business, Marketing or Communications
•    Certificate (or similar) in graphic design and graphic design software.
•    5+ years’ proven experience managing the production of compliant Expressions of Interest and Tender submissions in complex business environments.
•    5+ years’ experience in communications, publications, desktop graphics and submission preparation/coordination and management
•    Experience in management of submissions in a Tier 1 organisation, preferably in the construction, engineering or architecture industry.
•    Advanced MS Word skills and proficient in MS Office
•    Intermediate to advanced skills in Adobe Creative suite, especially InDesign
•    Preparing and monitoring writing plans and submission schedules that facilitate submission governance (i.e. tender launches, storyboarding sessions, review meetings, final review and sign off, printing and delivery)
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    You need to be able to meet any requirements which are necessary to safely perform your role (e.g. receiving a COVID-19 vaccination pursuant to a relevant health order or by clients, or as otherwise required)
