We currently have an opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our team in Wellington. This position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to oversee a large package of works and will primarily coordinate on-site construction engineering activities to achieve project time and budget objectives.

 

Key responsibilities of the role include:
Control, monitor, report and co-ordinate progress and planning on site, including specific areas of work.
Provide technical support to Supervisors and sub-contractors including liaison with consultants to ensure that safety, time, cost and quality objectives are optimised.
As directed by Project Manager, manage any cost control, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, sub-contract claims review and commercial negotiation activities.
Lead and champion JHG’s safety vision of ‘No Harm’ in all aspects of site activities and establish a safe working culture across the sites.
Comply with Environmental requirements as set out in Environmental Plan and manage Environment issues in line with policy, JHG manual and procedures.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:
Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering;
3-5 years engineering experience, predominantly within civil and/or rail projects.
Strong commercial acumen coupled with exceptional attention to detail and prioritisation skills;
Ability to communicate effectively to drive positive outcomes with managers, staff and key stakeholders;
Delivery of minor projects to program and budget specifications;
Ability to engage with and communicate at all levels driving positive outcomes;
Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills, preferably having managed Site and/or Graduate Engineers previously.
