John Holland manages the prestigious Country Regional Network (CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines.


We currently have two Property Officer positions available within the CRN team on 12 month fixed-term contracts to be based in either Parramatta or Mayfield. 


Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Conduct Property related desktop reviews for all enquiries, including but not limited to rail related functions such as sidings, level crossings, communication towers, easements and the leasing and licensing of surplus land and railway buildings
  • Prepare standard briefing note documentation for recommendation and approval by the client
  • Prepare and populate standard legal templates for execution by the client
  • Prepare Property reports as required
  • Monitor Property arrears
  • Maintain all relevant Property Portfolio system data
  • Conduct and apply annual rental reviews in accordance with the agreement
  • Maintain all relevant Information Management system data

To be successful in this key role, you must have;

  • Tertiary qualifications in Property Management disciplines or substantial equivalent commercial experience
  • Property management role experience particularly focused on commercial, railway and/or heritage properties
  • Experience leasing/licensing of properties
  • Minimum of three years property management experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated negotiation, influencing, problem resolution and interpersonal skills particularly with government agencies, external parties and the public
  • Understanding of the rail industry, in particular rail safety compliance
  • Understanding of and ability to apply Heritage, WHS, Rail and Real Estate legislation
