About the role:

John Holland’s Infrastructure division is currently constructing some of Australia’s most complex projects, including the Black Hill to Tomago M1, Belmont Desalination Plant Project, and Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre. Due to industry expansion, the John Holland Infrastructure business is currently seeking a Civil Project Engineer for an upcoming project in the Hunter NSW region. You will be responsible for managing all the earthworks, inground services, FRP and pavement works.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications.
  • Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports.
  • Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Area Manager.
  • Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects.
  • Direct exposure to interfacing with client and working on a project through the lifecycle of planning, establishment delivery, commissioning and handover.
  • Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions.
  • Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards.
  • Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project.
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
  • Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting.
  • Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Assist in the planning, procurement, and delivery of various supplier packages.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with JHG policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3-6 yeas on-site experience postgraduate
  • Strong experience with Civil scope including Bulk and detailed Earthworks, FRP and Pavement works
  • Project experience over $100m in value
  • Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports
  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress cost and risk
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety.
