About the project:

A 30 ML/d seawater desalination plant will be delivered at Belmont South NSW, to provide weather independent supply to the community in the lower Hunter region.

 

Seen as one of the largest capital projects in the water sector in Hunter region, the community is expecting a sustainable outcome for the nature of a seawater desalination plant. It is also the first project in Hunter Water pursuing an IS Rating, as part of its Carbon Neutral Strategy by 2035.

About the role:

We are looking for a highly driven Project Engineer to work on the Marine Intake works for the $460m D&C Belmont Desal Project in Newcastle, NSW. This is a great opportunity for a Project Engineer looking to diversify their skillset.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications.
  • Undertake any cost controlling, budgeting, forecasting, subcontract claim review, commercial negotiation activities.
  • Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Area Manager.
  • Provide technical and other support to Supervisors and sub-contractors including liaison with consultants to ensure that safety, time, cost and quality objectives are optimised
  • Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects.
  • Direct exposure to interfacing with client and working on a project through the lifecycle of planning, establishment delivery, commissioning and handover.
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
  • Establish and maintain an effective quality system to ensure that all records, test results and inspections required under the contract are obtained
  • Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting.
  • Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Assist in the planning, procurement, and delivery of various supplier packages.
  • Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. Construction methods,design, engineering procedures.

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. 
  • Project Engineer and operational experience
  • Previous experience working on infrastructure project $100m+.
  • Experience in FRP construction including Temporary Works
  • Previous experience in Water Infrastructure & Marine construction, highly desirable.
  • Project delivery and tender experience. 
  • Ability to work well with various stakeholders and build strong relationships. 
  • A can-do attitude with a hands-on approach.
  • Effective team-player capabilities
