Rail Safety Advisor

We are currently looking for Rail Safety Advisor to join the rail division within John Holland supporting projects withing in Victoria


As Rail Safety Advisor you will be responsible for monitoring and supporting the safety function under general supervision and to provide support and coordination of safety practices, systems and procedures on a project.


Responsibilities of the role include;
- Monitor compliance with the rail safety systems and rail procedures within the workplace and provide operational support to the project management team.
- Research and assist with the development of safety policies specific to the rail projects.
- Administer safety programs for rail project employees.
- Assist with workers compensation claims and rehabilitation processes.
- Assist with conducting incident and accident investigations that may require litigation.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and monitoring work areas.
- Establish positive working relationships with project personnel and raise awareness of safety risks.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable rail legislative requirements including government regulations, standards and policies.
- Review specific high risk planned works to be undertaken to ensure compliance with the method of work.
- Support the communication of SQE requirements to the project


To be successful in this key role, you must have;
- Rail Construction safety management (1+ years)
- Diploma of Work Health and Safety or equivalent
- Safety Lead Auditor qualification
- Experience in conducting and interpreting audit reviews
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls
- Experience monitoring, reviewing and reporting on performance, compliance and defects
- Skills in safety management techniques and tools
