About the Project:
John Holland were awarded the contract to reconstruct two major sites on the Palmerston Highway (Millaa Millaa-Innisfail), which were severely damaged as a result of Tropical Cyclone Jasper.
Following complex geotechnical works, the permanent reconstruction works involve; cast in-situ concrete piles, soil nailing, gabion structures, landscaping and hydromulching.
The road was identified as requiring the highest priority reconstruction works across Far North Queensland.
About the Opportunity:
As construction gets under way, John Holland is actively recruiting an Engineering Undergraduate to join our team.
We are looking for motivated and driven engineering student, eager to gain hands-on experience on one of Far North Queensland’s most critical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in driving QA and completion documentation completion
- Liaising with subcontractors to gain progress updates, quality and completion data etc
- Assisting Engineers or Drafters with completion of design documentation – e.g. As Built Drawings, Redlines etc.
- Liaise with Site Supervision and provide assistance and direction when required
- Assist with some digital engineering aspects of the project
- Assist more senior Engineers in delivering scopes of work
- Follow established procedures, gather and correlate basic data and perform routine junior engineering duties as directed
Requirements:
- A third, or fourth-year engineering student
- Available to work at least 2 days a week for the next six months minimum
- Essential: drive, motivation and an enthusiasm to learn
