About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Project HSE Coordinator to join our WA Rail Team.  The primary purpose of this role is to monitor and support a specific function of the project’s safety, health and environment program, as well as providing support, coordination and advice of HSE practices, systems and procedures.  This role will operate on a FIFO roster to a Pilbara-based Rail Project.

Responsibilities of the role include (but are by no means limited to);
  • Ensure the safety of any subordinates and ensure their compliance with establishes safety policies, procedures and practices
  • Analyse safety problems and recommend solutions to appropriate manager
  • Conduct routine HSE inspections, monitoring and analysis of work areas
  • Conduct investigations of site accidents and incidents that may require litigation
  • Assist with workers compensation claims and rehabilitation processes
  • Create, evaluate and administer safety programs for all employees
  • Monitor compliance with the HSE systems and procedures within the workplace and provide operational support to the Project Management Team
  • Support management and dissemination of information
  • Survey, evaluate, investigate and gather information that will address inadequacies concerning safety, health and environmental matter
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of the safety program assigned
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies 
  • Maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures to enable the performance of assigned duties in a safe manner
  • Maintain professional relationships with regulatory bodies, clients and contemporaries to foster the professional image of the organisation
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures
To be successful in this key role, you must have;
  • Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent
  • Cert IV in Environmental Management
  • ICAM Investigation Qualification
  • Remote First Aid Qualification
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • Construction HSE management (1+ years)
  • Experience on Rail projects (desirable)
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and development skills as well as monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Experience in supporting stakeholder groups and teams within area of responsibility such as communicating with frontline employees and first line managers
  • Ability to interpret project related documents, prepare repots and monitor compliance documentation
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spread sheet and email software
