A unique opportunity has arisen for a Field Supervisor to join our WA Rail team based in Welshpool. 

Responsibilities of the role include (but are by no means limited to):

 •    Manage core work and support for our clients across all regions of WA including the Pilbara and remote regions, manage maintenance of equipment used in construction & maintenance of rail networks arrange planned maintenance (PM), breakdown repairs and unplanned work.
•    Travel to work sites as required within Western Australia to provide support to both our clients and maintenance teams.
•    Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management.
•    Ensure completion in accordance with both John Hollands and the Clients expectations of cost control, quality and time objectives
•    Liaise with customers and other external stakeholders on maintenance, technical and logistical matters.
•    Complete progress reporting, and activities, reports for shift handovers and consistent regular reporting to the Superintendent or Operations Manager
•    Ensure compliance of commercial and financial costs including budgets and the implications of directions within your authority limits
•    Respond to after hours calls and manage repairs for JHG and Client owned Plant and Equipment.
•    Attend weekly planning meetings, request resources and execute the maintenance schedule, plan repairs and deliver the equipment on time with minimal impact, within budget and minimal rework
•    Responsible for effective processing of maintenance reports and timesheet records for all supervised staff.
•    Ensure contractual mechanisms of subcontractors
•    Identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to build a risk management culture.
•    Select, train and develop tradespeople and apprentices and ensure the observance of safety, other work standards and fair and reasonable application of industrial agreements.
•    Maintain effective consultation with various workers’ representatives and committees on industrial and safety subjects handling issues as they arise and referring major issues to the Operations Manager.
•    Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures

To be successful in the role, you must have:

•    Trade Qualification
•    Supervisor role experience and proven leadership experience approx. 3-5 years
•    Ability to travel to site on an adhoc basis to provide support to our clients and tradespersons
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience coordinating and carrying out maintenance on specialised rail plant and equipment 
•    Experience in scheduling plant, equipment and vehicle maintenance requirements
•    Skill in review of design documents, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement final design plans
•    Track surfacing machine maintenance experience and operational knowledge 
•    People and Performance Management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour
