About the Role

We are looking for a Mendix Specialist to join our IT team in the role of ASP Mendix - Application Systems Engineer.  This role will be based out of the Pyrmont office in Sydney.

In this role you will lead the delivery, support, and continuous improvement of the Mendix-based Asset Services Platform, ensuring it meets John Holland’s asset management needs across projects, operations, and joint ventures.

This is a hands‑on technical role where you’ll help bring technology out of the corporate office and into the field - building and supporting applications that are actively used by crews on site.

What you will do:

  • Administer, support and continuously improve Mendix applications within the Asset Services Platform
  • Support the design, configuration, testing and deployment of Mendix‑based solutions
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for Mendix applications, including issue investigation and resolution
  • Work closely with business users, operations teams, IT and vendors to gather requirements and translate them into practical low‑code solutions
  • Support integrations between Mendix and other enterprise systems, including asset management platforms (e.g. Maximo / MAS)
  • Provide technical guidance across architecture, APIs, middleware and data flows
  • Coordinate with external vendors and implementation partners for break‑fix support, upgrades and enhancements
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and process improvements
  • Support applications across development, test, UAT and production environments
  • Ensure all work aligns with John Holland policies, processes and regulatory requirements

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Solid experience administering and supporting Mendix or comparable low‑code platforms
  • Hands‑on experience with low‑code application configuration, workflows, security roles and data models
  • Experience supporting applications across multiple environments (dev, test, UAT, production)
  • Understanding of enterprise application support models, including L2/L3 support and vendor escalation
  • Experience translating business and operational requirements into effective technical solutions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, working with both technical and non‑technical teams

Desirable:

  • Mendix certification or equivalent low‑code platform certification
  • Experience with Power Apps or other low‑code / no‑code platforms
  • Integration experience with enterprise or operational systems (e.g. EAM, GIS, BIM, IoT)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, release management and deployment practices
  • Experience in asset‑intensive, infrastructure, transport or operational environments
  • Exposure to asset lifecycle processes such as inspections, maintenance, defects and work orders

As part of the team, you can help us transform lives.
