About the Project:

 

John Holland is progressing the development of Stage 1A of the multi-stage Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) project, a pivotal development set to transform the logistics landscape in Victoria, Australia. This initial phase marks the beginning of a journey towards creating a state-of-the-art facility that will streamline the movement of goods across the nation and beyond.

About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?

 

John Holland is looking for a Senior Project Engineer, Civil Lead, for Stage 1A of the BIFT project.
The role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on a landmark project, redefining Victoria’s logistics and transportation sectors.

As the Senior Project Engineer - Civil Lead, you will manage critical civil works in a dynamic and evolving project environment.
Your commitment to excellence and innovation is crucial to the creation of this state-of-the-art freight terminal.

Your role is key to driving the project towards successful, on-time delivery, working alongside other discipline leads within a well-resourced and high-performing team to ensure key milestones and delivery dates are met through effective management and leadership.

 

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

 

  • Oversee and manage excavation and formation works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, plans, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Lead the application of trial blasting, focusing on safety and environmental sustainability.
  • Execute drainage works in line with project requirements and environmental standards.
  • Have prior experience in drill and blast applications for rock removal
  • Construct temporary access to ensure efficient site logistics.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of civil works.
  • Troubleshoot civil engineering challenges to maintain project momentum
  • Perform site inspections and audits, ensuring conformity to technical specifications and best practices.
  • Cultivate a team environment that encourages communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Update the Project Manager regularly on civil works progress, budget, and risk management.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in civil construction for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • A proven track record in managing civil works, including excavation, blasting, drainage, and the construction of temporary access.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a diverse team.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil construction processes, techniques, and technology, with a dedicated approach to health and safety.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and openness to innovative technology.
  • A strategic outlook for problem-solving and decision-making, with meticulous attention to detail and a resolve to tackle challenges.
