John Holland is progressing the development of Stage 1A of the multi-stage Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) project, a pivotal development set to transform the logistics landscape in Victoria, Australia. This initial phase marks the beginning of a journey towards creating a state-of-the-art facility that will streamline the movement of goods across the nation and beyond.

About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?
As a Contract Administrator on the BIFT project, you will be a crucial member responsible for overseeing contractual obligations and ensuring the commercial success of Stage 1A. Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of contract administration for the BIFT Stage 1A project, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Conducting thorough contract reviews and analyses to identify risks and opportunities and implementing strategies to mitigate risks.
- Establishing and maintaining robust relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Coordinating with the project management team to track progress, manage claims and handle variations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, including budget tracking, cost forecasting and the preparation of financial statements related to contract performance.
- Negotiating terms with contractors and suppliers and managing procurement processes to achieve the best value for the project.
- Facilitating effective communication between project teams, finance departments and external parties to ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Implementing and adhering to John Holland's sustainability policies by actively promoting and integrating eco-friendly practices within the contractual framework.
- Providing commercial support and advice to the project team, contributing to decision-making processes and strategic planning.
- Ensuring that all contractual documentation is properly executed, stored and maintained in accordance with John Holland's standards and legal requirements.
- Actively participating in the resolution of disputes and the management of claims to protect the company's interests and maintain positive relationships.
- Collaborating with the legal team to ensure that all contractual arrangements are within the bounds of legal compliance and corporate governance.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of contract administration processes and systems within John Holland, fostering innovation and efficiency.
This role is integral to the successful delivery of the BIFT project and requires a proactive, detail-oriented Contract Administrator who is keen to take ownership and drive results in a dynamic and challenging environment.
To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;
- A tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, Business, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in contract administration within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- A strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes and commercial and legal terms.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage financials, including budgeting, cost control and reporting with a high level of accuracy.
- The capacity to work autonomously and make informed decisions under pressure, ensuring project deadlines are met.
- A solid track record of successfully managing claims, variations and disputes resolution.
- Keen attention to detail and the capacity to analyse and interpret complex contractual information.
- Competency in using project management software and standard office applications to manage workloads and maintain meticulous records.
- A commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in all business dealings.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to anticipate potential issues before they arise.
- Familiarity with local construction laws and regulations, and an understanding of the legal implications of contract terms.
- A dedication to sustainability and an understanding of environmentally responsible practices in the construction industry.
- The ability to adapt to evolving project needs and to contribute positively to a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation.
