About the Project:

 

John Holland is progressing the development of Stage 1A of the multi-stage Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) project, a pivotal development set to transform the logistics landscape in Victoria, Australia. This initial phase marks the beginning of a journey towards creating a state-of-the-art facility that will streamline the movement of goods across the nation and beyond.

Strategically located to harness the full potential of its proximity to key transport links, BIFT is poised to deliver unparalleled efficiencies in the distribution of freight. With the latest advancements in logistics technology at its core, Stage 1A lays the groundwork for a hub of innovation, ensuring that cargo is moved with unprecedented speed and precision.

About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?

 

John Holland is seeking an accomplished Civil Project Engineer to contribute to Stage 1A of the Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) project. 

This role calls for a dynamic individual with proven expertise in civil engineering, including experience with pipejacking and familiarity with inground rock removal techniques. 

Working under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer, you will be instrumental in managing diverse civil works integral to this major infrastructure project. With your comprehensive skill set, you will be responsible for ensuring that civil works are executed flawlessly, aligning with John Holland's commitment to delivering projects safely, sustainably, and to the highest quality standards.

 

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

 

  • Oversee the execution of civil construction activities, ensuring compliance with detailed project specifications and timelines.
  • Coordinate the application of trenchless construction methods, such as pipejacking, focusing on efficiency and minimal environmental impact.
  • Work in conjunction with the Senior Project Engineer to manage a variety of civil works, including but not limited to earthworks, substructures, and utility diversions.
  • Ensure that all civil operations, including those involving innovative techniques and equipment, adhere to strict health and safety guidelines.
  • Organise and direct subcontractors and specialists, facilitating the timely and effective completion of civil components.
  • Conduct risk evaluations and enforce safety measures, maintaining John Holland’s high standards for safety and environmental protection.
  • Keep thorough records of all civil works progress, including construction techniques and methods utilised.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts, advocating for the adoption of best practices and cutting-edge technology within the civil engineering domain.
     

To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a pertinent discipline, coupled with verifiable experience in civil project execution.
  • Expertise in overseeing civil engineering projects, with a particular emphasis on trenchless construction techniques like pipejacking.
  • Experience with inground rock removal and subsequent drilling or blasting processes would be considered an advantage, enhancing your capacity to manage these aspects of the project.
  • Ability to support the Senior Project Engineer in delivering complex civil works, promoting teamwork and project unity.
  • Broad technical knowledge across various civil engineering practices, with a readiness to tackle different project requirements.
  • Robust project management skills, evidenced by a history of meeting project deadlines and managing budgets effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building effective partnerships with team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using construction management software and a proactive approach to integrating new technologies to optimise project outcomes.
  • A problem-solving orientation, with acute attention to detail, especially when confronted with the technical challenges of civil construction.
