About the Project:

 

John Holland is progressing the development of Stage 1A of the multi-stage Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) project, a pivotal development set to transform the logistics landscape in Victoria, Australia. This initial phase marks the beginning of a journey towards creating a state-of-the-art facility that will streamline the movement of goods across the nation and beyond.

 

Strategically located to harness the full potential of its proximity to key transport links, BIFT is poised to deliver unparalleled efficiencies in the distribution of freight. With the latest advancements in logistics technology at its core, Stage 1A lays the groundwork for a hub of innovation, ensuring that cargo is moved with unprecedented speed and precision.

About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?

 

John Holland is currently seeking a Structures Project Engineer to play a pivotal role in Stage 1A of the Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) project. This position is designed for an individual with expertise in large piling and viaduct construction who is prepared to work under the guidance of a Senior Project Engineer.

 

The successful candidate will contribute to a landmark project that will significantly enhance logistics and transportation infrastructure in Victoria and across Australia. As a Structures Project Engineer, you will manage multiple structures teams focused on the construction of a long viaduct. Your specialised skills in piling and viaduct construction will ensure the successful and timely delivery of these critical structural components, maintaining John Holland's high standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.

 

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of multiple structures teams engaged in the construction of a long viaduct, ensuring project objectives are met effectively.
  • Coordinate large piling works, supervising the execution to meet design specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.
  • Assist the Senior Project Engineer in overseeing the structural components of the viaduct, from design through to completion.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, construction teams, and subcontractors to integrate structural engineering works into the larger project framework.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards during the construction of the viaduct and piling operations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and provide oversight to guarantee that structural works adhere to both design specifications and statutory compliance.
  • Address and provide solutions for structural challenges that arise, with a focus on viaduct and piling works.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and records of structural designs, construction processes, and inspections.
  • Foster a team environment that prioritises safety, quality, and efficiency, while also encouraging innovative solutions and continuous improvement.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field, with considerable experience in large piling operations and viaduct/ bridge construction.
  • Previous experience managing or coordinating teams in the construction of extensive structural projects, with an emphasis on viaducts/ bridges.
  • The capacity to work effectively under a Senior Project Engineer, providing reliable support and ensuring the coherence of multiple teams.
  • Strong technical skills with a keen understanding of structural design and construction practices, particularly in relation to piling and viaducts.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to oversee complex tasks and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Proficient at collaborating with a range of project stakeholders, fostering positive relationships with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients.
  • Experience with construction management software and a willingness to incorporate technology to streamline project execution.
  • A problem-solving mindset with a detail-oriented approach, particularly when managing the complexities of long viaduct and piling works.
