Join us at John Holland on the forefront of the Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) project, Stage 1A - a transformative development reshaping Australia's logistics industry. We are seeking a dedicated Safety Manager who is eager to take on the challenge of ensuring the highest standards of safety on one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Victoria. This role is not just about managing risks but is a vital part of our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence. As Safety Manager, you will be instrumental in cultivating a culture of safety, anticipating the dynamic needs of the project while protecting our workforce and the environment. Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

 

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety management systems in alignment with John Holland’s policies and project requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identifications, and enforce preventative measures to ensure the well-being of all project personnel.
  • Lead safety training programs, drills, and exercises to enhance the safety awareness and preparedness of the team.
  • Monitor compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and ensure continuous improvement of safety practices.
  • Collaborate with the construction and project management teams to integrate safety into operational procedures.
  • Investigate incidents, analyse root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, community groups, and environmental organizations, to promote John Holland's safety and sustainability ethos.
  • Report on safety performance, set benchmarks, and drive initiatives that foster a zero-harm environment.
     

To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Certifications and training in safety management systems and risk assessment.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Manager or similar role, preferably within the construction or logistics industry.
  • A thorough understanding of legal health and safety guidelines and an ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to influence a culture that prioritizes safety across all levels of operations.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices in the workplace.
