Who we are

The John Holland and Seymour Whyte Joint Venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the Bruce Highway Upgrade Maroochydore Road and Mons Rd Interchanges Project (BHMIP).


The BHMIP Project will deliver upgrades to the Maroochydore Road and Mons Road interchanges, provide two-way service roads on the western and eastern side of the Bruce Highway, extend Owen Creek Road to Sunshine Coast Grammar School and install new drainage structures to maintain and improve flood immunity.


John Holland and Seymour Whyte Joint Venture are recruiting for an experienced Safety Advisor who’ll play a key role in the safe delivery of our project.

About the role

Key responsibilities of the role include (but are by no means limited to):


  • Provide the project team with support, coordination and advice of HSE practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplace.
  • Administer education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within a defined workplace.
  • Conduct HSE inspections and field-based monitoring activities
  • Identify hazards and implement event prevention programs
  • Provide direction and support to the Project Teams to develop and implement adequate HSE training
  • Implement workplace health and safety procedures based on approved company management system and policies in the areas of health, safety.
  • To provide HSE specialist advice and technical input to delivery, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations / risks are identified and communicated appropriately
  • Maintain records of all HSE requirements at the workplace, in accordance with legislative and company requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records
  • Conduct return to work coordinator activities

About you

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you demonstrate the following;


  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Construction HSE management (3+ years)
  • Implementation and monitoring permit to work system experience
  • Experience in WH&S/HSE management techniques and tools
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spread sheet and email software
  • Ability to conduct and interpret audits and reviews

You will require intermediate to advanced computer literacy skills and be experienced with general administrative practices and procedures including records management.
